White Horse Brewery Oxford Dark Blue University Ale wins Gold and Overall Winner at SIBA Regional Independent Beer Awards 2019
White Horse Brewery took home the Gold Award in the Bottled British Dark Beers up to 4.4% abv, at the SIBA Midlands Region Independent Beer Awards, which took place at Peterborough Beer Festival on Tuesday 20th August. We were then awarded Overall Winner in the Bottled Beer and Can Category, beating 107 other beers.
“Judges had a tough job separating the pack, as the standard was extremely high once again. Lucky beer festival attendees at Peterborough Beer Festival were able to try this and other award-winning beers immediately after the competition, something which is great for brewers too as they get to put their beers into the hands of real beer-lovers. The winners from the SIBA competition are officially the best independent craft beers in the Midlands region, something brewers should be extremely proud of.” Ian Fozard, SIBA Chairman.
The SIBA Regional Independent Beer Awards judged a huge range of styles in separate cask, keg and bottle & can competitions. As the awards are judged mostly by brewers, industry experts and beer journalists the SIBA Independent Beer Awards are very much seen as the prestigious ‘Brewers’ choice Awards’ by the industry.
“We are thrilled to be judged as producing the best bottled beer in the Midlands area, especially when we were up against some excellent beers from much larger renowned brewers. We are a very small team here at White Horse Brewery and the staff continually go above and beyond their job roles to ensure quality of product, innovation and customer service. This is very much an award for the whole of our fantastic team.” Anneli Baxter
White Horse Brewery will now go forward to the SIBA National Independent Beers Awards which will be held in February 2020.
